HISTORY
Burj Khalifa also called as “Khalifa Tower” is the world’s tallest building ever built. It is a very tall skyscraper in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates having around 162 floors and a height of 2,717 feet (828 meters). The Khalifa Tower was designed by the Chicago-based architectural firm of Skidmore, Owings & Merrill. Adrian Smith designed the tower whereas; William F. Baker served as a structural engineer. In addition to this, the incandescent lights at the top of the building provide the finishing touches to this amazing piece of architecture.
There is also a park in front of the building where one can spend time contemplating the building. The Park draws inspiration from Hymenocallis, the desert flower. The park has six water features, palm-lined walkways, gardens and flowering trees. There is a water room located at the center of the park and the base, featuring a series of pools and water jet fountains. The building uses condensation collection system from the cooling system of the tower to water plants and shrubbery at the park. When hot and humid air outside the tower combines with the tower’s cooling requirements, the considerable amount of condensed moisture is generated. The water is stored in the car park at the basement, providing nearly 15mn gallons of supplemental water annually, equivalent to 20 Olympic-sized swimming pools. All railings, benches, and signs depict images of Burj Khalifa and Hymenocallis flower. The park area also includes two tennis courts, a wading pool, and a children’s playing ground.
