Hero 7 Silver

Both the GoPro Hero 7 Black and Hero 7 Silver are similar on the outside as they have the same shape and very similar dimensions. They both have the lens port on the top right corner and touchscreen display. They’re both waterproof and can rate down to 33 feet (10 meters). Despite those similarities, there are some differences in their basic design. It says “7 Silver” on the side rather than on the front like the black. The GoPro Hero 7 Black has a small black-and-white LCD screen on the front of the camera, while the Hero 7  Silver doesn’t. The lens port on the Silver doesn’t stick out as it does on the Black. You can’t remove and replace the lens port cover on the Silver but you can do on the Black. You will need the Super Suit dive housing for the Black and Protective Housing for the Silver. The Black has a removable battery in the bottom compartment whereas the Silver has a built-in battery. The GoPro Hero 7 Black has a microSD card slot right next to the battery compartment while GoPro Hero 7 Silver has the SD card slot and the USB-C port is next to each other.

Pricing & Battery Life

– GoPro Hero 7 Black VS Hero 7 Silver: Which One To Buy?

Both use 1220mAh lithium-ion rechargeable battery so you will get a similar active time. They can give you power backup for at least 2 hours if you do not use the mobile app as it will reduce its battery life. GoPro cameras never have a stellar battery life so if you use GPS and Protune in the black then they will reduce the battery life further. As black uses a removable battery, we can keep spares in hand to reduce time consumption. Whereas the Silver uses a built-in battery and you can only charge it by connecting the camera directly to a power source using a USB type C cable.

The great thing is you can shoot on both GoPro Hero 7 Black and GoPro Hero 7 Silver while it is charging but that won’t charge the battery but will keep it powered on. The charging will be started once you turn the recording off. The GoPro Hero 7 Black is priced at $222 and Silver is priced at $169.

Verdict

The GoPro Hero 7 Silver is suitable for holiday and sports shoots whereas the GoPro Hero 7 Black is for professional videographers who want detailed 4K videos. Because of the hyper smooth technology in Black you can make Full HD slow-motion videos. Professional videographers opt for the GoPro HERO 7 Black as it’s the best action camera in the world. However, if you want a regular action camera with fewer features as you won’t use every feature of Hero 7 Black then certainly GoPro Hero 7 Silver is the better option. So instead of spending more money on Hero 7 Black, you can go for Hero 7 Silver which has similar features.
