10) Gorton Castle
Rothney castle is the former home of the naturalist Allan Octavian Hume, who founded the Indian National Congress in 1885. It is one of the most notable buildings of Shimla. It is perched on top of Inveram Hill and has been open since 1974, preserving and collecting many items of importance along the way. The roof of the castle was originally adorned with red tiles which were later replaced with galvanized red sheets.
